It’s been a rough week for Memphis Depay. First the United forward got into it with legend Robin Van Persie at international squad practice.
Then the 21 year-old wore the wrong jersey during Holland’s defeat that solidified their exclusion from the Euro 2016 tournament.

Now it appears Van Gaal has decided that he is not going to play against Everton this weekend. Depay is a newcomer to the English Premier League, and so far has had trouble adjusting to the rigors of life at one of the highest professional levels.
“There are a lot of games in Manchester. There are very few rest days and on training days you are mainly concerned with recovering,” Depay said during an interview with De Telegraaf in the Netherlands.

Depay apparently hasn’t been coping kindly with his comparatively low output when his numbers are contrasted with last season. Ryan Giggs has even warned Depay of being seen going out on the town too frequently.
An inside source told The Sun, “He has been acting really big time around the camp which is starting to annoy a number of people.”
Benching Depay may be one of the most effective ways to show the striker how quickly his playing time can be reduced.
Doubtful the sideline treatment is going to kindle the best relationship between Van Gaal and Depay though. Ashley Young is the most likely candidate to fill Depay’s vacated spot.
