Wenger Wants to Retire a Gunner

Arsene Wenger intends to retire as a Gunner. The boss has been with Arsenal for 19 years, and his contract is set to run out in 2017.

Previously the Frenchman held that he would remain at the helm of the Gunners until they had reached a level he was content with to pass on to his successor.

Now the Mirror have claimed that Arsene has set the date as the end of his contract with Arsenal.

Wenger will be sixty-seven years old when his contract is through with Arsenal.

The manager has scooped three Premier League titles and six FA Cups so far. Arsenal have yet to win the Champions League, their closest effort was in 2006 when they lost in the finals to Barcelona.

The timing may be right and the stars aligned because Arsenal are in serious contention of the Premier League title in 2015. They are currently one of the most consistent teams in Premier League football, holding the top four with the likes of Manchester United, and Manchester City.

Forwards Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are a big reason the Gunners find themselves at the top of the table.

It’s possible that Arsenal hoist the EPL championship within the next two seasons and Wenger’s legacy gets to exit on a golden high note.

It would be a movie script ending to a career that spanned over twenty years at Emirates Stadium.
