Every year UEFA calculates coefficient club rankings based on a club’s results in the Champions League and Europa League during the last five seasons.
The separation between 1st and 4th is a mere thirty point gap, while the difference between 2nd and 3rd is less than a point. With the ranking leaders hanging an even ten points ahead of the pack.
4th place is Atletico Madrid, 3rd in a shock to most is Barcelona, 2nd is Bayern Munich, and the number 1 ranked team according to UEFA is Real Madrid.
Again the separation between Barcelona (152.542) and Bayern Munich (153.435) is less than one full point. Given Barcelona’s form and Real Madrid’s struggles it is possible we could see the Catalan club take the top of the ranking before the year is out. The competition between Munich and Barca is sure to be fierce.
