But not everyone is rejoicing. It’s not the design that has Gunners supporters anxious, the new jerseys look better than what some of the other clubs are rolling out for 2017.
Ditching the middle stripe of last year really helps to make the iconic ‘Fly Emirates’ pop on the front, as well as the tweaks to the collar both in style make up the little details that bring this new kit to life.
But that’s not what has supporters gnawing at their fingernails with anxiety. Some of the promotional photos provided by Puma and Arsenal show some discrepancies, namely concerning two of the team’s biggest stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
This first photo shared by Puma football has the two stars missing completely. Some fans argued that the reason for this is that neither Ozil or Sanchez are sponsored as Puma athletes.
Then a photo shared by Arsenal itself did feature the stars, as well as Peter Cech, who despite being a Puma sponsored athlete as well, wasn’t in the original photo.
While it may not be enough to definitely say that Ozil and Sanchez won’t be back for the gunners next year, it is a good lesson for clubs in the modern age:
club supporters will analyze every piece of information given to them.
The Arsenal faithful will have to maintain their bated breath throughout the summer transfer window to find out if Alexis Sanches and Mesut Ozil remain Gooners. With the prospect of signing Kylian Mbappe, it’s possible that one of the stars has to go.
